Visits to local comunities

With special emphasis in responsible tourism, we present our cultural and local heritage with the aspiration that our communities generate their own new incomes with which they will complement their incomes from traditional and productive activities. The visitors may interact with the people of the local community in their traditional cultural activities, which may include handcrafts, textiles, agriculture and livestock. In this way a scenario is constructed in where both parties -visitants and locals- can share consciousness and experiences. These visits offer a valuable opportunity to understand and live the Andean reality.

Visit to Pitumarca

Pitumarca community possesses a very rich tradition in the elaboration and crafting of textile products. The visit to this community has as its main objective to transmit that knowledge by demonstration and participation in the elaboration of textiles.

The participants will have access to the entire production process. This process entails the shearing and selection of the cattle, weaving, dyeing and finally the warping of the textile. The participants will also be given an explanation of the iconography represented in the traditional designs.
