The objective of the academic extension course Culture and Society in the Andes at Escuela Andina de Postgrado, Centro Bartolomé de las Casas, is to introduce participants to the most important themes of the Andean culture.
The most approachable areas of study for investigators or students from academic backgrounds unfamiliar with Andean material or human sciences have been selected.
Historical area: The program starts with an introduction to pre-Hispanic history and offers comprehensive insight into the most important themes in Andean socioeconomy, demographics, and religiosity of the colonial and republican periods.
Ethnology and Anthropology area: The program offers a general introduction to Andean ethnology and anthropology.
Andean mythology, art and textiles area: The three fundamentals for understanding the Andean symbolic universe are mythology, art and textiles.
Linguistic area: The linguistics course serves as an introduction to the principle themes of the discipline.
Sociology area: Themes relevant to the recent evolution of the Andean region: gender, development, tradition and modernity.
Visits: As a complement to the Culture and Society in the Andes program, archeological visits will introduce participants to some important archeological sites of the city and region of Cusco. Museum and colonial temple visits in the city and region are also planned.

Enrollment and Program Fees:
Students can take part of the program or all of it. Students can also attend individual courses. For all of these categories, there is a program fee. The complete course, with diploma has a fixed price. The others are evaluated according to number of courses taken:

3. Thesis and Master degree US $ 2,000
